My Wild Boar Experience

This was actually quite some time ago but I didn’t have chance to write about it until now. There’s this Indian Temple behind Tesco which is visited by wild boars at night. Seems like it’s very famous as I heard some people from overseas also visit this place to have a look as well as try to touch the boar. Why? Well, it’s said that touching the boar brings good luck and you can strike a lottery. Haha… so who wouldn’t wanna try their luck?

Anyway, after so much hype about the place, I had chance to go almost 2 months ago. So I went and check out the place to see what it’s all about. It was raining in the evening and we went quite late… about 9 something at night. The rain had stop for some time but we half expected low numbers of boars turning up.

When we reached there, there was about 20-30 wild boars around. They can actually  roam freely around the area. The crowd was relatively small but was beginning to build up slowly. There was an unpleasant stench and we guessed it was the rotten food. The visitors like to feed to boars with food… so there’s bound to be leftovers and nobody to take care of it. By the way, there’s some stalls there selling food so that we can buy to feed them.

The boars varies in sizes and most of it are relatively small. There’s one or two which was quite huge though… at least to me. None of us dare to touch except one. I heard there were all sorts of theories about the boars… which part to touch to get the highest chance of winning etc. There was a theory where one should the ermmm… that part to win. And believe it or not, there’s really people who do that.

The one who touched a boar actually used the same hand to touch the car plate number of the car that we used to travel to that place. Believe it or not, there was actually a matching number in the newspaper the next day BUT…. with a different front digit. Ooops….

Misfortunes

So many misfortunes has befallen as of today. First, the internet was not working yesterday which I thought would be a temporary setback. Today, I got the news that it wouldn’t be fixed until 30th April. OMG?! What am I suppose to do every night after work? Apparently, someone stole the underground cable so there wasn’t even a dial tone.

As if the heaven have heard our sorrows, there were heavy downpours right after. Haha… Yeah, I know Taiping is a rain town. And TODAY, it has live up to its name. For the first time in 3 years I’ve been here, it flooded the hospital. We were all quite amazed at the flooded entrance cause there was a car at danger of being drowned by the water.

Then came the news that our very own satellite was flooded. Mind you, the water came from above the ceiling and of all places, it poured right above all our precious drugs! One minute, the satellite was a peaceful place and then the next minute, it became a disaster. The desktop, the printers, documents, drugs were all soaked with water. My friend’s clinic was actually flooded one foot deep. Somehow this feels amusing rather than horror. It’s like some scene from a movie that I still can’t believe.

Anyway, the fact that I can post this on the day it happen shows that a miracle has happen. I can use my broadband again merely after 9 hours they broke the bad news about taking ONE month to fix the problem. I wonder if it has anything to do with tomorrow’s event.

25 Random Things About Me

There is some hype going on in FB where everyone’s suppose to write 25 randoms thing about themselves and tag 25 of their friends. Instead of posting it in FB, I’d like to post it in my page instead.

1. I love dogs but I never owned one. I’m afraid it’s lifespan will be shortened by me… Don’t think I can even take care of myself.

2. I always dream of being surprised with something so happy until I’m close to tears. Never experienced that in my life.

3. People always compliment my hair and I didn’t need much effort to make it look good.

4. I never own a bottle of perfume before. But I’d like to own one someday (quality ones).

5. I get annoyed when people wear cheap perfumes in crowded places. It makes the smell too overwhelming that my nose can’t stand it.

6. My dream car is Volkswagen Beetle.

7.  I don’t go cinemas to watch comedies that is not logical to the mind.

8. I’m really really scared of roaches.

9. I’m very bad in sports… any kind of sports.

10. I’d like to learn how to dance, Latin dance esp.

11. I love traveling and wish to travel every corner of the world… if I have the means.

12. I hate people who smokes.

13. I yearned for attention but I’m actually very shy.

14. I keep my problems to myself but I’m very willing to listen to other people’s problem.

15. The only time my boyfriend ever gave me flowers was during my graduation.

16. I don’t like cleaning. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t.

17. My favourite colour is blue but I don’t drink any drinks in blue.

18. I missed the time when I holiday in the States.

19. I’m currently obsessed with Bleach & Heroes.

20. I don’t have musical talents.

21. I think I suffer from inferiority complex. My boyfriend always say that I want everything other people has.

22. I love shoes, I love chocolates, I love flowers, I love jeweleries, I love to be showered with gifts… just like every other girl.

23.  I’d like to be a bridesmaid at least once before I get married (quite unlikely)

24. If I can choose an ability, it would be telekinesis or mind reading. And I don’t wish to be invisible.

25. I’m getting bored of the life I’m going through right now. If not already.

An Accident

I witnessed an accident today. I was on my way back to Ipoh today when it started raining heavily. It right after I passed the cement factory. My car is an auto car so I like hold the steering wheel with only one hand or sometimes hold it loosely.

When it rained, I was worrying about my car screen as there is still a layer of cloudy stuff that I still couldn’t get off  and thus affects the visibility a little. Somehow, something tells me to tighten my grip on my steering wheel and I DID with both hands. As I slowed down my car, suddenly, the white Kelisa  further up was dancing in front of my eyes. It did an about turn then hit the divider on the left, and bounced (like a bumper car) to the other side and hit the divider on the right.

I’m so glad that I slowed down and distanced myself away from the Kelisa before the incident happened. Else I wouldn’t have time to hit the brakes and I would’ve been involved in the accident. Then the title would be ‘My accident’ instead. Thank God.

Life still goes on as usual…

Amidst the political chaos in my birth state, life still goes on as usual. I still work in Taiping during weekdays and travel back to Ipoh during weekends. The only difference I noticed is the increase movements of some big shots. This is because I saw police escorts on the road with a limousine following behind for at least 3 times. Once during my travel back to Ipoh on Friday and twice today while I drove back to Taiping. Other than that, Jalan Gopeng where UMNO building and and Istana Kinta are situated, is off limits to the public (my pities to Casuarina Hotel…). 2 truckloads of FRU crews were on stand by there when I went to that area. MB’s house were guarded as well. Other wise, I don’t feel that my safety is threatened. People still thronged to Kinta City to shop… still have to look for hours to get a parking there. Though, as a Perakian, I feel like we’re a laughing stock right now.

All’s Well Ends Well 2009

Yesterday was an extra holiday for us Perakians. Since I had to work on Mon and my family don’t do prayers for ‘Tian Gong’, I decided to stay back in Taiping. Coincidentally, two of my coursemates came over to Taiping, so we went to watch All’s Well Ends Well 2009. It was cinema 6 again!
The plus point : We sat at the back row this time. The movie has Louise Koo. Full stop. That’s it.
The movie was okay at the beginning. Had some good laughs. Then it got from bad to worse. The corny jokes got cornier and cornier. The ending was the worst, they tried so badly to connect to the previous series. Suddenly they were singing the cliche’ song which was Traditional Chinese style in modern wedding gowns. Urrgghhh… So not worth my money. Please remind me not to go cinema for CNY movies.

Jan 09 & CNY

Hmmm… somehow last month passed by with a blink of an eye. Before I even realised it, it was already Chinese New Year. I think this has got a lot to do with my job. Earlier, it was due to my fellow colleague’s long holiday leave. Her absence have inadvertently added my list of responsibilities. Then there was the presentations that I need to prepare. It’s presentation with an ‘S’ because there’s actually TWO in two weeks. Plus, we also have an added workload… which is dispensing in A&E department. So, we have to work during weekends as well. Even the last day of work before CNY was a hectic one. It’s as if they knew and make sure you have work filled to the brim (I’ve got around 10 prescriptions to fill and dispense to the ward at 4pm ).

Anyway, when CNY came, it was a different case. I took 3 days off so I had a whole week to celebrate. But then it was an extra quiet year. Normally, there would be a lot of outings especially to gamble at friends’ house. There was none this year. There were less reunions (no HSO reunion didnt missed the SMSI one). Gambling was replaced by spending for beer and karaoke as well as yum cha. So it turned out to be quite a restful year… Oh well… Time to concentrate on work again. Hmmm… I wonder how is Rooster’s fortune this year.

No Resolutions

Goodbye 2008 and welcome 2009. This time of the year is usually meant for looking back at what we have achieved and making new year resolutions. Well, I’m trying a different approach this year. No resolutions for this year. Few months ago, I have been expecting a lot for 2009 but the past 2 months have been dissapointments and let downs for me. Being in the darkness have thought me one thing. No expectations and you won’t be let down. So I’ll embrace this saying instead: “Yesterday is history. Tommorrow is mystery. Today is a gift.”

Mini ‘Makan’ Trip To Kampar

Last weekend was a long one due to the public holiday on Monday. Since two of my friends came back from KL so we’ve been discussing of something to do for the next day while hanging out. We’ve been choosing between going Lost World of Tambun to Makan Trip at the ex-mining town. Needless to say, food won over water splashes. Hehe…

On Sunday morning, Kenny went and fetch three of us (me, Bun & Pink) before heading to Kampar. In just about 40 minutes, we reached destination and went straight to the market area. We have no trouble finding the place at all… thanks our walking map called Ngai Bun.

The place was full of people. Guess many grabbed the opportunity to get to back to their hometown. We soon found the stall that sells what we were looking for… highly recommended Glutinous Rice. It comes with some char siew and peanuts plus the curry gravy if you feel its too dry. One of its kind. We ordered some other stuffs like Wan Tan Mee and Chee Cheong Fun as well. Ohhh, not to forget the ever delicious Chao Yuen (fried-ball?) as well.

The next destination was a bit tricky because we wanted to find ‘Ham Kok Chai’ stall but we’re not sure where. We were going round the town and ended up back in square one. The stall is actually next to the place we were eating in the morning. Haha… By the time we found it, its already almost 11am and the Ham Kok Chai was sold out. Oh well, till next time then.

We got thirsty so we went and try the FMK Ais Kacang which is situated on the main road. Each bowl cost about RM3 and the portion is slightly more than those in Ipoh. Nothing special about it though… but not bad either.

Next we tried our luck and went to look for waterfall using directions written by some blogger cause there’s actually no road sign to it. The place is called Batu Berangkai Waterfall which we have to go through Kg Batu Berangkai and some aborigine settlement to reach the place. The road is bit narrow and we had trouble getting a spot to park. The water looks cooling and clear enough though we didn’t try it out ourselves except Pink. We just lingered a while and took some pictures before heading back to town.

This time, we tried the laksa from a stall Kam Yew. I shared with Pink because we girls really don’t have that big a room in our tummy. Haha… It tastes great but I prefer Penang Laksa . Afetr eating, Bun and Kenny we chatting non-stop reminiscing their good old days in school. So stomachs filled, mouth exercise done, scenery viewed… time to go home.

I recommended Taiping as our next Makan Trip when it comes along… but nobody seems to buy it. Hahaha… looks who’s talking? Hmmm… didn’t know Tesco Kampar already operational and the existence of a hotel called Grand Kampar until I passed by it.
